CraftyJC Challenge #12: An Inspiration from Shobana

Hi folks!

Here is the last inspiration to get you thinking for our CJC#12: Holiday Favors.
Today we have Shobana sharing her project with us. Let's see what she has in store for us...
"Hi! I am Shobana, and am totally excited to share this post with you today! Many thanks to the Crafty JC team for showcasing the winners in this unique way! It is the very first win for me, where I have got the chance to share my creations this way. I started my affair with paper crafts last year, and I have always loved crochet. I am a self-taught quiller and have recently discovered the joy of quilled earrings! My style is very CAS and I appreciate all the friends I have made in blogland!

As part of the challenge #12 - Holiday Favors - I really had to think of creating something could be easily made and mass produced (if need be) and that any family, whether they celebrate Christmas or not, could have a use for in their homes. And I came up with fridge magnets! These can be made simple or complicated, as time permits, and even your kids can help!
Happy crafting and Happy Holidays too, to all of you! Wishing you a great year ahead and heres to many more Crafty JC challenges! :)"

Thanks for the wonderful idea Shobana! Aren't these totally adorable.
So please hop on to Shobana's blog and leave some love!

Cheers,
Indira

Heya!! Good Morning and hope you all had a nice weekend!
Our second inspiration for CraftyJC Challenge #12 is from none other than the lovely Juhi Khanna.

Let's see what she has in store for us...
"Hi this is Juhi again. I am a card person, I almost never make anything other than cards (and mini-albums at times). I would like to thank Jaya and Indira for pushing me to try out something different. Not sure initially about what to make I finally came across this awesome video tutorial about how to make origami boxes and boy am I hooked! These are really easy to make and look so good.

These are what I came up with.........holiday/winter favor boxes.

So go ahead get those creative juices flowing.....can't wait to see what you come up with! "

Aren't these boxes so damn pretty!! You all must be aware that Juhi is blessed with a baby girl last week, so I take this opportunity to wish her on behalf of all of us and thank her for taking out time to do this project for us.

Do hop over to her blog to wish her and leave some love!

CraftyJC Challenge #12: An Inspiration from Vicki

Hey there! Hope you all are gearing up for the upcoming holiday season!!
Today we have an inspiration from the very talented Vicki, who was one of the winners of Simplicity challenge at Crafty JC.

Over to her:

"Hi, my name is Vicki Dutcher and I am a Stamping Addict! :)  I started stamping about 12 years ago, and have been heavily stamping the last 3 years!  All I do is stamp and I LOVE every minute of it!

I am excited to share my ABC (anything but a card) project with you.  I'm not sure it is so much "winter", but I love these calendars. So easy; designer paper -- a calendar and a little frame - it's done!  I use mine year round, and I also give these as gifts to co-workers for their desk.

Thanks for letting me share my project with you."

Vicki is a blessed soul when it comes to arts and her creations are just stunning! Check them out for yourself at her blog and leave some love!

Cheers,
Indira

CraftyJC Challenge #11: An Inspiration from Ujjwal

Heya! Today we have our last inspiration for this challenge from our very own Ujjwal!
Ujjwal is a known face in the blogland, and I know many of us look upto her for her ever inspiring designs.

Over to you Ujjwal...

"Hello, I’m Ujjwal living in Pune, India and like the rest of the us am seriously addicted to Craft- making, admiring, hoarding and most defiantly buying ( things that I don't need but MIGHT need :D ). I got married to a wonderful guy 1 and a half years back and life has been a beautiful journey ever since. My DH is most supportive, encouraging and ever so patient with my crafting needs(I am not sure if its the same when I go on my crafting shopping spree!)

I have been into card making and crafting since I was a small kid but it got serious when I discovered blogging one and a half year back and started my own blog in February last year and there has been no looking back. I have met some very talented people..made wonderful friends and learned a lot.

I am glad to have been given the opportunity to be a guest designer at CraftyJC Challenge today! I am looking forward to all the creativity, fun and crafting!

About the project:

I chose to work with palette #2 and created a sweet and simple card. I hope it inspires you in some way to play along."

Now isn't that inspiring people!! My hands are already itching to creating something based on the other 2 color palettes.

Thanks a lot Ujjwal for the wonerful idea.
So guys you know what to do now. Hop on to Ujjwal's blog and leave some love!

CraftyJC Challenge #11: An Inspiration from Indira

Hello everyone! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend.
Today I present to you the third inspiration for Crafty JC Challenge#11. Yup, I am also the DT for this challenge as I was one of the winners for the Recycling challenge.

So here I go.....
"My name is Indira Tanwar and I live in Mumbai with my husband. Ours was a love marriage and we have been married for 3.5 years now. Being an Army officer's daughter, I was privilleged to travel across the length and breadth of the country. I did my schooling from 7 different schools, graduation in Jalandhar and MBA from Symbiosis, Pune. I work in an IT MNC in Mumbai.
Given a chance, I would chuck my job for crafting!! I have been crafting since childhood and my source of inspiration is my mom. I used to watch her paint, stitch, do flower arrangements, sugarcraft and what not. I love all sorts of crafts and like trying my hands at new things. But, quilling is my all time favorite. I think I first did quilling when I was in school. I had seen some book in a library (internet wasn't known then), and tried it on coming back home. I don't even remember what I had made and where it is now. The second time I did quilling was 3 years back when I came across Shilpi's quilling kit at the Hobby Ideas store at Inorbit, Malad. And I have been hooked to it since then. I started my blog in 2007 just to store my creations on an online interface, so that I could access it whenever required.
It was only in 2009 that I started blogging seriously. I was amazed to meet so many talented crafters in India through blog land. ICR provided the perfect platform to know many more of them. It gives a really nice feeling to know you have people like you who not only appreciate your work but one also gets to learn so much from them.

About my card...
This is the first time I am a DT for any challenge. Hope I do justice to it.
I have chosen palette #2 as my inspiration. I think green, blue and purple combo looks very elegent."
I would like to thank Jaya for having the faith in me to host this challenge on her blog. I am just doing my bit to help her.

Do hop by my blog Arty Sorts and let me know how you like my work. Looking forward to see your wonderful creations.

Cheers,
Indira

CraftyJC Challenge #11: An Inspiration from Hussena

Hey folks!! So the entries have started pouring in. We are really excited to see what your magic hands are churning up for this challenge!!

Our second inspiration is from the very lovely Hussena. She is a very talented crafter and her quilling works are ever so gorgeous. Over to her...

"Hi I am Hussena. A wife, a mother and now very much a crafter. I am a stay at home mom of two kids ages 12 and 5. I consider myself quite new to the blog world and have been blogging since Dec 2010. I was introduced to blogging because of my love for quilling. I used to browse the net a lot to get inspiration for designs and different forms of quilling and that's when I first came across Suganthi's blog "DAYDREAMS". Her blog inspired me to start my own blog and share some of my work. Though I am very much into quilling I have started to try my hand at other crafts too. And stamping is my new found love. The support of fellow bloggers has helped me a lot since I started my journey in the blog land. I am amazed and humbled by the generosity of my fellow bloggers who always extend a helping hand by giving tips, sharing tutorials and in some cases even craft supplies.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jaya for giving me this chance as a DT for this challenge and also for appreciating my recycling work and selecting me as one of the winners.
For this time's challenge, I chose to go with Palette #3, which is Yellow, Red and Blue. Here’s my take on it…"

Thanks for such an eye-catching inspiration Hussena! Your projects are always full of life, bright and colorful.

So guys do hop over Hussena's blog to view her work and do leave some love!

Cheers,
Indira

CraftyJC Challenge #11: An Inspiration from Dr. Sonia

Hi Friends!! This is Indira Tanwar from Arty Sorts. It gives me immense pleasure to host this challenge on behalf of Jaya.

This time around we will be having 4 DT posts as inspirations. They are the winners of Crafty JC's Challenge #9: Recycle.

First up is an inspiration from one of our most loved blogger buddy Dr. Sonia. Over to her...
"Hi friends I am Dr Sonia. I had an absolute blast during the Crafty JC Recycling
Challenge as recycling is something I am very passionate about. Thank You Jaya for
that awesome challenge. For my DT inspiration too I have a recycling project!
I have already been featured as DT on this awesome blog so I feel a bit awkward
writing about myself again but we have to follow protocol!

As most of you know I am an ENT Surgeon by profession and for me crafting is a
stress relieving hobby more rewarding and relaxing than watching TV or sleeping!.
Blogging has been a roller coaster ride and I am continually amazed at the
generosity of my blogger friends and that people actually want to follow my blog!
I seem to enjoy sharing tips and tutorials on things I am no expert at so that the
novice like me can benefit from my crafting adventures. Since like all mothers I am
proud of my little one-- I do now and then showcase my kiddos work too on my
blog! I love my mischievous Doggy too-- maybe soon I will start blogging about
him!![Then I will really lose some followers I bet!]

So if you have not gone away yet here is my inspiration - I recycled some cardboard
from a box into a DIY homemade Photo frame. I chose Color Palette #1 showcasing the colors burgundy red, yellow and green."

What an amazing inspiration!! Thanks Dr. Sonia. You continue to surprise us with your fabulous creations every time.

So what are you all waiting for!! Gear up, and show us your ever so charming stuff.
And don't forget to hop over Dr. Sonia's blog and leave some love!

Cheers,
Indira

CraftyJC Challenge #10: An Inspiration

This time for the inspiration I’ve been thinking of having the usual “Top 3” of the previous challenge as DT. But now, since this something everyone’s been excited about I think I will not deny the pleasure of the creating something – as Susan calls it – Creative Simplicity

So, here I am with a bit of some inspiration.  I plan to invite a few other crafters over the next weeks to provide more inspiration.

The Top 3 of Recycle challenge will be DT for the next challenge. I will be announcing the winners VERY soon. It’s been soo difficult to choose the winners!! You girls were amazing.

Ok, now that I am done with all the (nervous) chatter (I’ve never provided any inspiration for any challenge!!), AND I can’t think of anything else to say to sort of postpone this moment, here is me dreaming of Christmas already :)

DSC01710

This card is has just about 3 steps

  1. Stamp Hero Arts Wreath of Leaves in light green and dark green on top of each other. I didn’t bother cleaning the stamp in between
  2. Stamp the sentiment from Papertreyink ‘ Signature Christmas in red
  3. Stick those beautiful red frosted stones from PieLane

And you are done.

DSC01722

Thanks for dropping by and I hope you will play along at our Simplicity challenge

Cheers,
JC

CraftyJC Challenge #10: Simplicity

Simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistication
Leonardo da Vinci

I am sure you have read this if not from Leonardo’s biography, but on the blog of one fabulous, inspiring, cheerful, funny blogger called Susan Raihala. Those of you who have hopped over to my blog would know how much of a follower I am and how much I am inspired (please read case) by Susan.

So, when the theme of this month’s challenge is Simplicity, I had to but request Susan if she would be kind enough to provide an inspiration. She so cheerfully said a BIG Yes.

Yes, you heard that right. This challenge’s inspiration is provided by none other than Susan who personifies Simplicity, in many ways. She said, we’ll just stick to the theme as Simplicity and will leave it to you crafters to interpret the way you see it.

So, let’s see what you create for this month’s theme Simplicity

The returning super generous sponsors is itsybitsy

Itsy Bitsy is the No.1 Manufacturer and retailer of the most desirable hobby and craft products in India.Itsy Bitsy specialises in Papers, embellishments and tools for Quilling, Punching, Card making, Scrap booking, Paper crafting, Jewellery making and more, please visit http://www.itsybitsy.in/ to know more

Itsy Bitsy is offering TWO gift hampers for each challenge, each hamper is worth Rs. 1300 and have a look at this picture to see what is in store! One Gift Hamper will go to the winner of the challenge and one more to a random participant.

Thanks a lot itsybitsy for sponsoring this challenge, again :)

Now, hop over to Susan’s blog Simplicity for her inspiration for this challenge.

Thanks a LOT, Susan, for being part of this challenge and for the inspiration too :)

For more inspiration, Susan suggested I link you up to to SCS’ CAS Gallery as well.

And don’t forget to come back and play along. We have some more fab inspirations coming up over the next week.

Cheers,
JC

CraftyJC Challenge #9: Inspiration from Karuna

I hope you have been inspired by the lovely inspirations till now.

Here is your last inspiration for this theme Recyle. And what an inspiration from the fabulous Karuna!! Karuna has helped us all in many ways with getting our hands on gorgeous supplies easily and look look.. here she is again helping us be inspired in our little way to save Mother Earth.

Here she is!! Welcome Karuna.. :))))

"I have been on Blog Land for almost 2 years (Geeezzzz… now that’s old :D ). And most of you fairly know me well. But for the newbies, I work as a Marketing Manager (not software engineer :D) with a leading IT MNC for last 4.5 years and every free time in my schedule goes into crafting :).

Like most of us I used to hoard any kind of pretty stuff including things I felt qualified as stationary then. Making projects with shoe boxes and altering items was my favourite then since the supplies were limited. 3 years ago I got hooked onto Quilling looking at Youtube and it inspired me to take it up as a hobby. As time progressed I learnt about the various tools and techniques of Scrapbooking and Card making and yes there was no turning back! Thanks to my then ‘Boyfriend’ and now Hubby…. Siddhant helped me create a Blog. He has been my driving force to what most of you call me with love – Crafting Queen :) . Yes it was a name kept by him since for him I was the best at what I did! (Aren’t husbands the cutest!! :D)

Blogland helped me meet so many talented people and also exposed me to challenges, tips and techniques. I have made some very cute friends here and its so nice to have someone discuss the crafty things all the time ;). Bugged with the challenge of sourcing Craft supplies for myself and hearing fellow crafters whining about this issue, I ventured into having my own Craft Store. It started with very basic supplies and now I’m happy am able to get some of the most important and pretty tools and materials we are deprived of in India! The encouragement has been very motivating and I hope soon all Indian Crafters are at power on Global level!
Being a top 3 at Crafty JC has been an exhilarating feeling! I did little dance as Khushboo told me about it over a call since I check the blog on and off! Thanks Crafty JC and the DT team for picking me! However knowing that I need to make a DT project on the theme “Recycle” wasn’t really celebrating moment for me. Coz when you know your project shall be looked with judgment and alota criticality you gotta be good! And this is my first ever DT post so I have tried my best :) Am hoping its worthy of a DT project (Please be kind : ) )
Recycled Desktop Calendar

So what I did I recycle? – A CD Case. (PS- I was on vacation whole of last week and bought many old CD’s my mom was about to throw off :P. ) I took out the CD insert and painstakingly took measurements to cover all Panels. More details with pics J
The Base Material used – Before the project

And here is the After of the project

This is the cover and I used my Echo Park – For the record papers. I used a Kaisercraft Mannequin (have been dying to use this one) as base added some frill with white net we receive with flower Bouquets. Used a sequin lace for the belt and pulled some individual sequins to bling the dress. The circle die cuts as well as the sentiment are from a Glossy finish corporate flyer lying at home, its printed on the backside.

The Left side – The PP was stamped on the green side to look like a pretty background. This Panel is a “Reminder/To Do list” with sticky notes.
The Right Side – The same double sided paper again has been stamped and a magnetic snap is stuck behind. All Calendars have the magnetic snap behind the Month name and they just snap to the green panel inside :P

This is the backside with a pocket to keep the remaining calendars. All Calendars have been cut, stamped and heat embossed. The dates are handwritten. The best thing is this pocket provides a support for the case to stand even when its closed so you have the front as a Décor on your table. Once the calendar exhausts you can still use it and snap some magnetic saying to the inside. Talk about long term plans :)
Phew! That’s a long post considering I took 2 days to complete it :)
Hope you all inspired to recycle some old useless item lying around your house if you havnt done so yet! And please do follow all the rules while linking your post as we hate to miss out on your awesome entries!!
Love always
Karuna"

Now, isn't that super fabulous! What a lot of hard work has gone into this. Thanks a lot Karuna for all the effort. It has turned out SUPERB!

Now girl, please drop in on Karuna's blog and leave her some much deserved love :)

And come back and play along with us here at CraftyJC Challenge - #9: Recycle

Cheers,
Jaya

CraftyJC Challenge #9: Inspiration from Juhi

This girl needs no introduction :) Now, does she!!
We have our next inspiration from Juhi.. a gorgeous.. well... scroll down to see what it is! :) And read a bit about her here too!

Thanks Juhi for providing this super inspiration :)

"Hi, This is Juhi from http://www.juhishandmadecards.com/.

Though I have been crafting for as far as I can remember, I took it up seriously after I got married into a joint family. I had nothing in common with the rest of the family’s interests when it came to TV viewing in our spare time. Being too bored I decided to do something else with my time and landed up crafting!

I am sure glad I did cause it has been a wonderful (and expensive :P)  journey! Since I started blogging I’ve learnt so much and made some awesome friends.

I would like to thank Jaya for giving me this opportunity to showcase my work as the guest DT; I admire her enthusiasm and enterprising spirit for setting up the first challenge blog in India.

For my DT project I’ve recycled a wooden partitioned box (it came as the packaging for a set of wooden alphabets).

I’ve made something on the lines of Tim Holtz/Maya Road dimensional shadow boxes (ofcourse those are much bigger than this; each partition in mine measures aprrox 1x1.25inches).

I painted the box yellow with some acrylic paint and used various knick knacks, trinkets, buttons, sea shells, broken earrings, pendants, scrap paper die-cuts etc to decorate it. The roses and butterflies are die-cuts from an old magazine; they’ve been colored with some smooch spritz and walnut ink.

I’ve put it up on my PC with the help of some magnetic tape.  I had so much fun making this….looking forward to see what you come up with!"

How super cute is that!! LOVED it! Thanks sooo much Juhi for this gorgeous inspiration. You rock girl, and how!

Please drop in on Juhi's blog and leave her some love..

And come back over here and play along at the take on this fun new Challenge Recyle.

Cheers,
Jaya

CraftyJC Challenge #9: Inspiration from Khushboo

We had 7 superb entries from wonderful, creative Kushboo for the last challenge here. Each one of the more beautiful than the others :)
Here she is with yet another classy take on this fun new Challenge Recyle

"Hi friends, myself Khushboo from Kolkata....
I was always a more hands on person than buying things from the shop... My love for art and craft dates back to school when I used to love all my SUPW lessons and my SUPW teacher was super although she would make us sew (Ugghhh)..

I started the whole scrapbook, handmade card thing while in the later years of school and followed it then on.. Later jewellery designing took precedence over everything else and I got started again when I learnt punch craft.. There has been no looking back since then..

Decided to join blog land and it has been a whole new experience and amazing to have friends from all over.. Besides crafting am a super FB addict.. you can see me online like ALWAYS.. I love reading and cooking.. and if anyone out there is willing to cook good veg food for me then i can hog continuously...Being a very enthusiastic person.. I enjoy taking part in challenges and winning one is super.. This is my first DT post so I hope I do justice to it and like the project...That's it folks.. Have a super time crafting.. and remember.. it's the participation that counts..

For my DT project have recycled old newspapers and Readers digest magazines ....

... and come up with a recycled bag..

The bag is made of old newspapers and added some packaged cardboard to give it stability.. you cannot see the cardboard as it is is hidden beneath the paper...

The die cut is made of an old perfume gift box.. the cornflowers are made of readers digest covers.. and some quilling along with bling and butterflies...

Thanks so much for the opportunity Jaya... It was a pleasure doing this.. I found it tough for it's my FIRST ever recycled project but I had super fun.. Hope you like it too..

Hugs,
Khush "

I am soo taken with this recycling. Isn't this superb? What wonderful creativity from a bunch of newspapers and magazines to this super chic stylish bag!!
Thanks a lot Khush for the abso gorgeous inspiration!

And now girls, off you go.. leave some love to Kushboo and come back and play along.

CraftyJC Challenge #9: Recycle

August 29th was the Moonwalker, Michael Jackson's 53rd Birthday. One of the most wonderful songs which will live with us forever is "Earth Song".  This song is I think is the first ever MJ songs I've listened to, back in school.

The returning super generous sponsors is the itsybitsy

Itsy Bitsy is the No.1 Manufacturer and retailer of the most desirable hobby and craft products in India.Itsy Bitsy specialises in Papers, embellishments and tools for Quilling, Punching, Card making, Scrap booking, Paper crafting, Jewellery making and more, please visit http://www.itsybitsy.in/ to know more

Itsy Bitsy is offering TWO gift hampers for each challenge, wach hamper is worth Rs. 1300 and have a look at this picture to see what is in store! One Gift Hamper will go to the winner of the challenge and one more to a random participant.

The Earth Song talks about how we've taken Mother Earth for granted. How abused she is.. And MJ urges us to take a close look at the state we've left Earth in.

Now, the theme for this month's challenge is "RECYCLE". Recycling is one way to restore Mother Earth. Our small take on saving her or at least no damaging her more.

Edited:
So, let us see anything recycled. It need not be a card. Get creative :). And yes, it need not be paper. We want to see ANYTHING recycled.

We would love to see these on your blog post
- Your take on how we as indivduals can help Save the Earth
- Also please post the material you are recycling and the final entry. This is mandatory, since this will help the DT to choose the Top3.
- Please read the few super simple rules on the side bar. Dont want you to miss out on the hamper. There have been a few instances where we had to diregard entries because of this.

And we have some yumm inspiration in store over the next week too - so do be back :)

Please note that the challenge closes on September 25th.

"We have one earth, let us take care of her for us and the children to come"

Cheers,
Jaya

CraftyJC Challenge #8: Inspiration from Priya

Here we have a fabulous inspiration from last Challenge’s winner Priya Sondhi,

Let’s welcome this lovely, super creative girl.

Hello friends! It’s Priya Sondhi from Bangalore, India .22062011021_E

From the childhood I always had a liking towards arts, crafts and colors. I and my sister used to make paintings with different techniques like metal embossing, batik, glass paintings, etc and other pretty things to decorate the home. Or you can better say my sister used to do all the fancy stuff and I usually copied her ;)… So my childhood was spent among paints, brushes and papers.

As the life took its turns, my sister went abroad to pursue her career in fashion designing and I pursued my career in software. One fine day I stumbled upon some paper crafts websites and it completely bowled me away. I slowly started my process of learning paper crafts and used to follow paper crafts blog silently..With the encouragement of few lovely ladies in ICR I finally decided to start my blog

I strongly feels that everyone should have a hobby to pursue which can give them a space of their own, energizes the life and to have fun even if you are alone

And here is her beautiful, colourful Accordion Card and goes into a box.

Such gorgeousness :) I loved every piece of element that has gone into the card.

There are more awesome pictures on her blog. And now, you know what to do :) Please hop on over to her blog and leave some love.

And come back again and play along with this – the latest challenge here – Friend are Forever. Don’t you agree?

Love,
Jaya
