CraftyJC Unusual Wing-It Challenges: # 17

I decided to continue with the same number series as earlier :) Sounds like a big number huh ;)

The Unusual-Wing-It challenges are help you to challenge yourself in an unusual way with based on a given launch pad. There is nothing on your face about these challenges.. you decide how you want to interpret the picture.

The winner will be decided based on how unusual the idea is based on this launch pad.

For e.g., you may use 3 parallel lines or maybe the colours or or maybe sentiments on strips.. may be even use that spot of light from my camera's flash to high light something...  (this is the last time we will have interpretations here . hehehe )

Hope you will play along. Feel free to combine this with other challenges.

Please note that these challenges will last for just about 5 days.
Based on the butterfly girl's request - we'll have this for about 2 weeks... till Nov 14th midnight.. :)

Cheers
Jaya

PS: Please please send me your ideas for the next unusual challenge
PPS: No DT inspiration. Dont want to pollute our thought process

CJC Challenge #16 Winners and News

Dear girls,
Thanks for stopping by after 4 months.

I have the 3 winners for the For a Special Lady challenge

Lavina very very creative apron
Juhi' super cheerful card
Tejal's beautiful CAS butterflies

And the winner is Lavina - I was quite taken with her creativity.
Lavina - please email me and I will get the prize out to you.

Now for the news:
I'm sorry about the delay in announcing the winners. I can blame it on the new baby, getting back to work and a host of other plausible reasons... but to be honest I've been lacking the drive to run this challenge.

When we started this challenge some 2 years back, this was the the first challenge run from India. And I was super excited. We were all super excited :)

Now I see so many other fabulous challenges run by our very creative girls .. and I don't see a need to have similar challenges here at CraftyJC any more.

So, it is a good-bye to this style of challenge. Thanks for playing along till date. It has been a learning experience for me. And I hope you enjoyed your time here too.

I would like especially thank Indira Tanwar when she sooo kindly helped out when I was on maternity leave. Thanks girl :) And God bless.

As a next step for this challenge - what I have been thinking about is to have random challenges here. No pressure on you or me.. And I don't promise any prizes.I will try to get sponsors.. but..

I so love the new Swap Central our girls run. That is truly challenging. Pushes you to be more creative.

We need more challenges like that. Challenge ourselves. Get out of our comfort zones.

So, stick around if you want to do something you've never done before. Something like "Make a One layered card with the sketch found on that challenge".. or maybe "Use at least 5 layers and 5 colours"..

Or maybe another round of AWIC - A Week In Cards.. with a theme.

What do you got to say?

Cheers
Jaya

CraftyJC Challenge #16: From Sabrina

Here is another lovely inspiration from Sabrina – a unique take on this month’s challenge.

Thanks for the great inspiration Sabrina :)

"My name is Sabrina, but in this blog-land I'm known as Vinka.   I'm an engineer and work for a GIS software company; I'm also married and live in Bogota, Colombia.
I got into the scrapbooking world about a  year ago, when I discovered a course on making beautiful albums and layouts with pictures.  Since then I've been in workshops, courses and diving on Internet learning from videos and awesome blogs every kind of techniques and projects to do.  I love everything related with crafting, cards, albums, layouts ... Anything I can make with my own hands will always be a good way to use my free time."
About my inspiration for this month challenge, I have two inspirations”

"I made some cards for my mom, grandma and aunt but, for the current challenge -For a Special Lady-, I decided to show you a simple but meaningful card I made for one of my best friends.  A week ago we found out she is pregnant and the inspiration came along... current challenge -For a Special Lady-,
Here you have some details of the card, I choose gray colors because we still don't know if it is a boy or a girl.  I hope you like it"

"This is my card for the current challenge -For a Special Lady-.  It's a circular easel card I made for the Mother's day.  I used the 'Princess Party Tilda' Magnolia Stamp, flourishes and ovals made with the big-shot and a fabric flower to embellish the sentiment.
Here you can see some details. Some pieces of paper where embossed to add dimension.  Tilda's dress and crown where embellished with some sparkles, I love sparkles!.  I hope you like this card as much as I do and of course, I hope you join this month challenge with your own creations."
Once again.  thank you very much for inviting me to the DT for this Challenge!  Let me know if the pictures are ok for hte blog post, or if you need something else.

Such gorgeous creativity on display! :) Thanks a lot Sabrina

Do leave Sabrina some love and come back and play with us on this month’s challenge

CraftyJC Challenge #16 – An inspiration from Ayesha

Today’s inspiration is from Ayesha Ahmed. Her blog is fully of such lovely original creative takes. And she is so generous with her tutorials too.

Off to Ayesha.. :)

Ayesha

"   My idea of spending quality time alone is with paper, glue, scissors, some ideas and possibilities are endless like our imagination.  Ever since childhood I have passion for paper craft, I loved being a part of craft classes at school or would spend the entire summer afternoon doing something crafty.  While working as an Assistant Manager for an MNC, I always took out time for my hobby from my busy schedule.  I loved participating in craft activities at office and whenever possible I made use of creativity in my work.  Now as a housewife I'm glad I can devote more time for my passion.  I hope in future as well I continue to learn and experiment with new crafting techniques everyday. "

And here is her awesome card
For a special woman 008

I used a Sarah Kay image and colored it using mixed media technique so you could see marker, pencil colours and glitter paint used in the image.  I have also added my handmade flower to it.  "

CraftyJC Challenge #15 – An inspiration from Kavya

Today we have a very special DT person with a beautiful inspiration for the colourful challenge.

Presenting to you Kavya – a 13 year old girl – which such creativity! :)

Thanks for the inspiration Kavya :)

I am Kavya N, a 13 year old crafter currently studying in Grade 8 at The Indian High School, Dubai.

312825_10150372664762511_586887510_8923974_326980760_n

I was into drawing and painting before but I discovered the world of crafting and cardmaking a year back and I am enjoying it a lot!! I created my blog last august to serve as a memory for my artworks but couple of weeks later, many crafters dropped by leaving their comments and suggestions which encouraged me a lot and I had my first exhibition last November, it was a huge success. Most of my cards are made using some simple materials which are available here to common folk....

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

I have made the card using materials from my stash. I have purple, pink, green and blue. The background paper was printed from online. The roses were made using a heart punch and the sentiment was printed.

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

I have used crepe paper for the ribbon and the rhinestones which were used were from my mom's stash. As I did not have a border punch, I layered two alpine punches to create the effect on the edge. I have used Derwent Pastel pencils and blocks instead of Distress inks.....

I hope you like it....=)

I was speechless when I read she is 13!! Wow! So young and such creativity! Love the colouring and the punch craft.

Awesome isn’t it :)

Do please leave some love for Kavya at her blog and come back and play along for this colourful holi challenge

Cheers

CraftyJC Challenge #15 – An inspiration by Poornima

Heyall,

After the fab V-day challenge DT inspirations, here is some yummy inspiration for the Holi by the uber talented Poornima.

Hi !! I am Poornima from Ajmer, Rajasthan.

I am a computer instructor by profession. I have been always associated with some or other sort of art. Gold Jewellery Designing is one of them. I started blogging in Nov. 2011.

Before that I was not aware of crafting tools & supplies. I used to make 3d projects more but nowadays also enjoying card making.

Paper jewellery making is one of my favourite craft. I love to experiment & learn new
techniques. I always challenge my myself to make something which I haven’t tried yet.

For the current challenge ,I chose bright colours -yellow, red, green & purple to make a vibrant card.

I am playing with so many bright colours for the first time. This layout was in my mind & I think current theme is apt for it. I have used a girl digi image with these bright colours to combine holi colourful theme & girl power(becoz of Women’s day).
The text is handwritten. I wish all the participants a good luck & very bright n colourful
holi

My oh my.. aren’t these colours just sooo wonderfully vibrant!!

Please leave some love at Poornima’s blog and do come back and play with us again for this Challenge #15: Many Colours Holi

Cheers,
Jaya

CraftyJC Challenge #14: An Inspiration from Priya

Hey folks! We are back with another lovely inspiration for the very pretty and talented Priya. Priya is known for her clean and well color co-ordinated style of card-making. Let's see what she is sharing with us today...
"Hello friends! It’s Priya Sondhi from Bangalore, India. From the childhood I always had a liking towards arts, crafts and colors. I and my sister used to make paintings with different techniques like metal embossing, batik, glass paintings, etc and other pretty things to decorate the home. Or you can better say my sister used to do all the fancy stuff and I usually copied her ;)… So my childhood was spent among paints, brushes and papers.
As the life took its turns, my sister went abroad to pursue her career in fashion designing and I pursued my career in software. One fine day I stumbled upon some paper crafts websites and it completely bowled me away. I slowly started my process of learning paper crafts and used to follow paper crafts blog silently..With the encouragement of few lovely ladies in ICR I finally decided to start my blog…
I strongly feel that everyone should have a hobby to pursue which can give them a space of their own, energizes the life and to have fun even if you are alone.

This time I tried a new type of card. Its called telescopic card. You can find the tutorial here. It's a 3 layered card which is perfect to say those 3 golden words "I love you" :) I have used 3 different sized decorative hearts circle diecuts. To make them slide, I have used some brads. Papers are from Echo park (courtesy ImaginationsOnline.com), Some Itsy bitsy alphabets and 3D stickers. Swirls and rhinestones are from PieLane. I have tied a little ribbon at the top for hanging. I hope you liked it."
Thanks for sharing such a lovely idea Priya. Guys, you know what to do now!! Hop on to Priya's blog and share some love! And do play along.

Cheers,
Indira

CraftyJC Challenge #14: An Inspiration from Indira

Hi folks! I am stepping here, in place of Nidhi as she is busy with her wedding preparations. Also Jaya insisted that I share an inspiration with you all.

So here they are. I made a couple of cards in the last few days on Valentine theme with unconventional colors.

The first card is based on Mojo Monday Sketch#226. I used two of my most favorite colors - Yellow and Purple. The big bloom and leaves are handmade without using and punches or diecuts. The lovely cream colored roses are a gift from my friend which she got during her visit to UK. The purple mulberry roses are purchased from Ujjwal's store. The sentiment is from Itsy Bitsy. The silver swirls are from Pie Lane. The buttons are from my stash.
The second one is based on Card patterns sketch #150. The PPs used in the card are from Hobby Ideas. The flower is again handmade without using any templates or punches. Only the dark innermost petal is a punched daisy. The sentiment is a digi. I used two ribbons for the border, one broad and one narrower than it, and placed the latter on top of the broad one. The tiny blue beads on top right are from Pie Lane.
Hope these inspire you enough to play along! Looking forward to your entries :)

Cheers,
Indira

Hi folks!!

We present to you our first inspiration from the very talented Romina Nahata. Romina dabbles in punchcraft and quilling and her lovely work has always stunned us. Her entry in CJC#12- Holiday favors took our breath away. Over to her..
"Hi! I am Romina. I was born and bred in Calcutta, but settled in Delhi for the last 10 years post marriage. I'm a SAHM to 2 darling fairies aged 9 & 6 yrs. They are my biggest critics & are now aware of all craft supplies & techniques that I know of !! I started blogging around 11 months back and got hooked to cardmaking ever since... I also conduct workshops for quilling, punchcraft, cardmaking & scrapbooking.
Today I'm showcasing a valentine card using non-traditional colors. I've used the lovely swalk stamp from crafters companion. Isn't it cool ?? Used the MS butterfly punch for the lace & the corner has been adorned using punch-bunch punch. The PP is from DCWV's glitter stack. Hope I have inspired you enough to play along with us !!All the best !!"
Thanks Romina! Guys, isn't that such a cute card? Do hop on to Romina's blog and leave some love. Looking forward to your fabulous entries.

CraftyJC Challenge #13: An Inspiration from Avni

Hi all! Here is the 3rd and the last inspiration for CraftyJC Challenge #13 - Something New.
We have the talented Avni with us showcasing her unique project.
"Hiya ladies, This is Avni from Bangalore. I live here with my DH and 2 little boys. Life is very busy out here. So, taking out some time for my passion is really an achievement:) and my achievement found a new level when I won at Crafty JC!

I have selected a 'new home' theme for this month. I upcycled a wallet box for this and tried to make a miniature house. I don't have a particular style of crafting yet, but I always like to put some deep thoughts to projects and try to implement it upto my max limits. Everything here is almost hand-cut except for those wavy line stickers and flowers.  Hope this will inspire you enought to take part in the challenge!"

Such a lovley idea to upcycle a wallet box and to use the inside of it too, so wisely!
So peeps, hop on to Avni's blog now and leave some love!
Looking forward to your participation in CJC#13.

Cheers,
Indira

CraftyJC Challenge #13: An Inspiration from Kavitha

Hi! Here is our second inspiration for CJC#13, from the person who needs no introduction: Kavitha!
She is known for her distinct style and impeccable projects. Here you go...
"Hi, I am Kavitha here today to share my inspiration for the current challenge "Something New". As soon as I started thinking for the project, the phrase "Everyday is a new beginning: Celebrate it" is the first thing that came to my mind. So keeping that as focal point I created a wall hanging.
I  have used a mount board as the base, covered it with pattern papers and decorated it with lots of flowers and butterflies.. pretty simple for me ..he he. This is based on the inspiration picture this week from the shabby room. I loved the branches, butterflies and the colors in the picture and I have incorporated it in my project. The size is 7 by 10 inches, but still find it hard to find place for all my embellishments, lolz. The letters and the butterfly are cut with silhouette and all the other things are from my stash.

Hope you got inspired with my project n do play along this month :))"

What an awesome inspiration! Do hop on to Kavitha's blog and leave some love!

And what are you waiting for? Just get going with your projects and play along.

Cheers,
Indira

CraftyJC Challenge #13: An Inspiration from Dr. Pritesh

Hello everyone!

Today we present our first inspiration for CraftyJC Challenge #13 - Something New. We have with us the very talented Dr. Pritesh who has carved a niche for herself in the blogland with her lovely quilling work.
Glad to have her with us today. Over to her...

"Hi! I am Pritesh and a first time Guest Designer on Crafty JC. When given the theme New Year, I could only think of "cool" colours, being here, surrounded by snow. The first colours that come to the mind are blue and silver. Blue for the bluish hue around because of all the snow and silver because of snow sparkling when those occasional sun-rays fall on the snow. Once a theme like New Year came to me, I couldn't resist but try a project using my most recent acquisition in crafting - Quilling. I am relatively new to quilling and I hope this project inspires you too to pick up paper strips and just roll, roll, roll........

The project is made in one of my favourite styles of quilling - dual colour combination. The 2012 is filled with another favourite - beehive technique (that I seem to have fallen in love with). I hope to be able to soon print a 2012 calendar and attach it to this project. I wish all the participants in the challenge luck and hope that 2012 brings in a lot of positivity and energy in your lives.

Season's greetings & hugs,
 - Pritesh"
Now isn't this such a breathtaking creation!! I totally adore it. So folks, do hop on to Dr. Pritesh's blog to check out more of her wonderful work and the tutorials that she shares with us from time to time.

Cheers,
Indira
